Invitation for the KICS Winter Conference 2025
Dear Members of the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences (KICS),
As we welcome the Year of Eulsa 2025, the KICS is proud of host the Winter Conference at Yongpyong Resort.
Under the slogan "Shaping the 6G Era with AI-RAN," this conference features a diverse and in-depth academic program to provide our members with valuable insights and extensive opportunities for research exchange.
Notably, this year’s conference will feature a special AI-RAN Alliance Session with Dr. Alex Jin Sung Choi of SoftBank and the Chairs of three working groups. In the Global Industry Insight Session, distinguished experts from global leaders in the telecommunications field will deliver presentations on various topics. Speakers include Dr. Hyukjin Chae from Apple, Dr. Sangki Yoon from Meta, Dr. Taesang Yoo from Qualcomm, and Dr. Insoo Hwang from Google, promising an engaging and informative experience.
Centered on the theme of AI-RAN, the event will host panel discussions on the status and strategies of O-RAN technology, inviting experts from academia, industry, research, and government. In the Tutorial Sessions, Prof. Hyun Jong Yang of Seoul National University will discuss the RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC), Prof. Jungho Kwak of DGIST will address multi-resource optimization for AI-native networks based on Open RAN, and Dr. MinKeun Chung of Ericsson Sweden will present on wireless prototypes.
In the World Scholars session, Professor Frank Fitzek of TU Dresden will deliver a lecture on "6G Communication: Unlocking the Future of Networked Robotics," while Prof. Tomasso Melodia of NEU will present on "Open 6G: Orchestration, Automation, Conflict Management, and Explainability in nextG Wireless Systems." Additionally, the event will feature an invited lecture by Mr. Seunghyun Son of TTA, MoU Ceremony, special sessions for early-career researchers, a startup session, 6G Forum, and more, ensuring a rich academic experience for all participants.
This year’s conference will also recognize outstanding research through the Haedong Best Paper Awards, and encourage student participation with the ‘Idea Competition’ focused on generative AI and quantum computing. Open to both undergraduate and graduate students, this competition aims to provide a platform for innovative ideas addressing societal challenges. These initiatives promise meaningful and beneficial experiences for students and young researchers beginning their journeys in telecommunications research.
We hope that the 2025 KICS Winter Conference will become a vibrant forum where ICT experts from around the world gather to discuss, debate, and collaborate on diverse topics. We sincerely invite all KICS members to actively participate in this significant event.
Finally, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the organizing committee and the staff of the KICS Secretariat for their time and effort in preparing for this event. We hope this conference proves to be a rewarding experience for all attendees, fostering meaningful exchanges and connections.
Thank you.
